Trump "hush money" trial: no jurisdiction - no problem

As a professional who has practiced criminal defense in New York State court for several years, what is going on in Trump's "hush money" trial, at a huge expense to the hurting NYS taxpayers, is beyond me, since the court, very apparently, lacks jurisdiction to conduct the trial it is conducting.

Jurisdiction of the court on a felony charge is obtained, as it purportedly was in this case, through a grand jury indictment, in compliance with the federal Constitution.

Right now, in the middle of the trial, it is becoming apparent that the prosecution is unsure what is the predicate offense triggering the grand jury indictment.

That means that the indictment is a nullity and must be dismissed on the spot, as the court has no jurisdiction to proceed on such an unclear indictment.

But, the political circus at taxpayer expense proceeds.
